Action Research items for consideration:

1. How can an outreach program designed to prevent bullying help our fifth grade students be better prepared to handle social challenges of middle school?
2. In what ways can implementing a buddy program support the school’s reading initiative for low performing students?
3. What can we do to minimize cafeteria problems with a revised lunchroom atmosphere?

Although each area constitutes wondering, the No Bully Zone issue is at the forefront of my action research. As more and more stories are told regarding mean behaviors amongst our youth, I feel strides can be made by educating our students before they reach the middle school years, which are some of the toughest. The program would be a proactive resource for providing tools for the bullied, awareness for the bullies and educating those who are not aware of the problem's ugly presence.

  1. Bev,
I will certainly follow your reasrch project because i think everyone can benefit from your findings. As you well pointed it out, we must do whatever we can to help our elementary children to learn how to deal with this very serious issue (bullying) Thanks for choosing this area of concern and let me know if I can ever be of some help to you.

  2. Hello Ms. Wright Way,
Your blog page is very creative. Great Job!

    I have a suggestion for question -
#3 What can we do to minimize cafeteria problems with a revised lunchroom atmosphere?

To erase some of the lunchroom problems, try creating a contest to reward best behavior of a classroom, or grade levels with an ice cream party or dance, etc. Place a chart on the wall with a list of behaviors. After lunch, place a sticker next to the groups that followed the listed behaviors. Don't forget to remind the students to view the chart each day in order to see where their class stands. At the end of the week, the classroom or grade level with the most stickers wins.
